The leading Christmas Day stories in the world’s best-selling newspapers

by

24 December 2009

The best selling newspapers in the world are mainly based in Asia, where it’s already Christmas Day. And the major sports news story on Christmas Day 2009 in the world’s No1 newspaper (Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun) concerns Marcus Tulio Tanaka’s move from Urawa Reds to Grampus Eight.  The top non-Japanese newspaper in the world is Germany’ s Bild and its Christmas Day sports lead was a feature about the footballs season so far. There is also a lot of emphasis in Bild on F1, and on Klinsmann saying he’ll never coach in the Bundesliga again, and on various aspects of Jens Lehmann’s career. The Christmas Day sports lead in the The Times of India, the biggest selling paper in that country, is cricket-related.
