The very definition of a Premier League home banker: Chelsea v West Brom

Evidence for a home banker is rarely as strong as the statistical evidence that suggests Chelsea are home bankers this weekend against West Brom.

Exhibit A is Chelsea’s home form this season: played five, won five, scored 12, conceded three.

Only Chelsea and Manchester City in the whole of English football still have 100 per cent home records in the league. Add to that Jose Mourinho’s astonishing record at home and things already looked bad for any visitor.

Exhibit B is the graphic below, showing Chelsea’s complete home record in the Premier League, by opponent, since 1992.

In that time they have played West Brom seven times at the Bridge, won seven, scored 18 and conceded just a single goal.

Chelsea at Bridge PL all-time to 8.11.13
