Tiger Woods “to discuss past and future” on Friday

by

17 February 2010

Tiger Woods will make his first appearance in public on Friday since the car crash in November that brought his well-ordered world crashing down. Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, has said the world No1 will address a group of friends, colleagues, associates and a small pool of Press representatives at Sawgrass Clubhouse in Ponte Verde, Florida at around 11am local time on Friday morning.

“Tiger plans to discuss his past and his future, and he plans to apologise for his behaviour,” Steinberg says. “Tiger feels as though it’s time to make amends and to publicly do that.” Woods will not be answering questions, although the event will be screened live around the world.

As to Tiger’s much anticipated return to the golf course in competition, ABC news reports: “Rumors have swirled since early this month that Woods might play at the Tavistock Cup, an unofficial event played between pros from two rival country clubs at Woods’ home course at Isleworth in Orlando on March 22 and 23.”

Among many hundreds of organisations reporting the development about Woods within minutes of it becoming public are AP, the Los Angeles Times, and the Wall Street Journal, although not yet the Post Courier of Papua New Guinea, where today’s big news remains the PNG Netball Federation endorsing a 43-member training squad in its preparation towards participating at the World Regional Netball qualifying tournament in June.
